Song from an Outpost

These are days for a traveller to tread every land,
Out on these frontiers sence time began.
Wagon wheels were a creaking, I was lost in your eyes,
Then roaming old countries where many men were beguiled.
I don’t seem like a soldier, though that’s what am,
These streets face cold frontiers, though I laugh while I can.

When you’re born on the ocean and toil on this land,
Can’t dwell on what’s lost, I do all that I can
To live with the people who lie by my side
‘til the day we roll over this wild frontiers divide.

Wind curls like a whisper is it talking me?
I can’t get no peace as it rustles the leaves.
Let me sleep by the trail as it curls up like smoke,
Up that old mountain past hawthorn and oak.
Soon I will slumber let them stars shine,
Let me peer from these drapes in the morn when I rise.

These are days for a traveller to tread every land,
Out on wild frontiers sense time began
Wagon wheels were creaking I was lost in your eyes,
Then roaming old countries where many men were beguiled.
Soon I will slumber let them stars shine
Let me peer from these drapes in the morn when I rise.
